Croissance de la coque (Cerastoderma edule) en baie de Somme : Morphométrie et Marquage ArchiMer

The bay of Somme is the first French field of cockles (Cerastoderma edule) with a production amounting to 3000 tons per year on average. In order to improve the stock management, it is necessary to increase our knowledge of this species. This study is looking at the growth of the common cockle. First, was carried out a morphometric analysis of the two left and right valves, which has revealed a perfect symmetry of the shell and has allowed us to establish strong correlations among the morphometric parameters. Then, a chemical marking study has been realized with calcein and manganese in order to obtain the exact growth. Échanges de sels nutritifs entre la zone côtière et un système estuarien intertidal : la baie de Somme (Manche, France) ArchiMer

The Bay of Somme is the second ranked estuarine system, after the Seine estuary, on the French coasts of the Eastern Channel. The nutrient retention and regeneration capacities of this estuary have been calculated from continental and coastal hydrological data and from estimation of the residence time. Measurements at the mouths of the main rivers over a one-year period (from October 1994 to November 1995) were used to construct a budget of continental inputs which showed that the smaller rivers could, at times, be important contributors. The annual budget shows continental inputs of nitrogen, phosphorus, silicon and suspended particulate matter of 9 000 t . y(-1), 380 t . y(-1), 5 400 t y(-1) and 67 800 t . y(-1). Etude de la salubrité des gisements de coques de la Baie de Somme ArchiMer

Les gisements de coques de la Baie de Somme ont été classés en zone insalubre en septembre 1971. Vingt ans après cette décision, un état de lieux a été effectué d'avril 1989 à mars 1990. 182 prélèvements de coques répartis sur 12 mois consécutifs et 7 stations ont donné lieu à la recherche essentiellement des coliformes et des streptocoques fécaux. L'étude a confirmé le maintien du classement en zone insalubre mais a montré que la partie Nord de la Baie présentait généralement une meilleure qualité bactériologique que celle de la partie Sud. La possibilité de développement d'activités aquacoles en Baie de Somme Nord reste cependant soumise à la confirmation de l'amélioration sanitaire dans cette partie de la Baie.

The Baie de Somme is an infilling estuarine environment, controlled by intensive marine hydrodynamics forcing (megatidal tide and waves) and a small river flow. Morpho-sedimentary dynamics of this bay and sedimentary fluxes were studied at two spatial and temporal scales. I) At the scale of intertidal hydraulic dunes, studied during semi-diurnal and semi-lunar tidal cycles with neap tides (NT) and spring tides (ST). In this context, a strong forcing variability (winds, tide, waves) control sedimentary fluxes and morphodynamics evolutions of dunes (λ : 5-23 m ; H : 20-60 cm).
